A Work of Art
The true value of an object seems to lie more in the story or the individual behind it than in the materials used toproduce it. Take art, for instance. In World War II, a Dutch art dealer sold Hitler’s right-hand man, Hermann Goering, afamous painting by Vermeer for the equivalent of ten million dollars today. When the war ended, Goering was capturedand tried at Nuremberg and it came to be that the precious painting that Goering delighted in was a forgery. Although allagreed the painting was masterful, the forgery, only detectible to a trained eye, was of little monetary value.
God knows the story behind each and every one of our lives and is well acquainted with every sordid detail aboutus, yet He holds us as precious treasures in His sight. God the Father paid a King’s ransom to redeem us from our fallenstate with His most precious possession, His only Son.
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 Peter 1:19.
The blood of Christ is the most precious gift we could ever hope to receive, and was offered to each of usabsolutely free of charge. The story about this free gift can be found in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
I would not give up one moment of heaven for all the joy and riches of the world. - Martin Luther
